About Barkain

Barkain was born from a simple frustration: finding the true lowest price on a product shouldn't require opening a dozen browser tabs, checking three coupon sites, calculating credit card rewards, and wondering if you even qualify for a military or student discount at that store.

We're building an iOS app — and eventually a web platform — that does all of that in seconds. Scan a barcode or search for a product, and Barkain checks prices across 11+ major retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, eBay, Sam's Club, and BackMarket. But we don't stop at sticker price.

Beyond Price Comparison

Most price comparison tools show you the listed price and call it a day. Barkain goes deeper. We layer on identity-based discounts (military, veteran, student, teacher, first responder, senior), credit card reward optimization (including rotating category bonuses and shopping portal cashback), active coupon codes, and secondary market options to calculate the actual out-of-pocket cost personalized to you.

AI-Powered Recommendations

Our recommendation engine synthesizes all of these data points into a single, actionable suggestion. It doesn't just tell you where the cheapest price is — it tells you which card to pay with, which portal to click through, whether a coupon stacks, and whether historical price data suggests you should buy now or wait for a better deal.

Built by a Solo Founder

Barkain is built by Michael Olatunji, a software engineer passionate about helping people keep more of their money. The app is designed with privacy in mind — we store card product names, not card numbers, and your personal discount profile stays on your device until you choose to sync it.

Every year, American consumers leave billions of dollars on the table through unclaimed discounts, suboptimal payment methods, and simply not knowing a product is cheaper elsewhere. Barkain exists to close that gap. We want every purchase you make to be the smartest version of that purchase.
